Meet Your Counselor
I help teen boys and young men in Nashville build confidence, clarity, and emotional resilience—without judgment or pressure.
Hi, I’m Samuel Sheeley, M.S., LPC-MHSP, NCC
As a male therapist, I specialize in helping adolescent boys and young adult men who feel anxious, stuck, or unsure of themselves. Whether it’s constant self-comparison, emotional overwhelm, or just not feeling like they’re “enough,” I offer a space where clients can be seen, supported, and strengthened.
My Approach to Therapy
Relational & grounded – I meet you where you are.
Emotionally safe – No fixing. No lectures. Just space to explore your story.
Growth-focused – We look at patterns from the past to build strength for your future.
Tailored to young men – I understand the unique challenges boys and young men face in today’s culture.
I completed my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lipscomb University with specializations in Play Therapy and Addictions Counseling. Over the past fifteen years, I have served families, adolescents, and transition-age youth in various settings. I have spent time working with and mentoring teens at a residential counseling center in East Texas, counseled families, teens, and young adults struggling with addiction issues at a nationally renowned drug and alcohol treatment center, and have led and mentored college students at Belmont, Vanderbilt, and Lipscomb University as part of my role with Nashville Young Life.
I use techniques from Play Therapy, CBT, DBT, and experiential therapy to help teens and young adults creatively explore their past, understand their present situation, and create a healthier future. One one of my favorite experiences is when a client’s eyes light up in a realization and I can provide encouragement to help them hope for a different tomorrow.
I am a Nationally Certified Counselor, a member of the American Counseling Association, Nashville Area Association of Christian Counselors, Chi Sigma Iota counseling honor society, Alpha Chi honor society, a member of the NAADAC -the association for addiction professionals, a recipient of the 2019-2020 National Board of Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship, and part of the Nashville Young Life community.

Professional Background
Over the years, my path to becoming a counselor has woven through both clinical training and ministry experiences, each shaping how I walk alongside clients today.
My time with Young Life involved mentoring college students in their faith and emotional growth—conversations that often laid the groundwork for deeper healing. That experience continues to influence the way I support young adults navigating identity, transitions, and mental health challenges.
I was honored to be part of the NBCC Addictions Counseling Fellowship, where I received specialized training in helping teens and families impacted by substance use. That training still informs my work with adolescents and their support systems, especially when addressing complex emotional or behavioral issues.
At Agape Nashville, I worked with children, adolescents, and young adults facing trauma, anxiety, and family stress. This gave me a strong foundation in trauma-informed care—skills I later deepened during my time at Cumberland Heights and Arch Academy, where I supported adolescents in early recovery and emotional regulation.
My time at Nurture House allowed me to work in-depth with young clients and families, focusing on emotional resilience and relational healing—tools that continue to shape the heart of my counseling practice today.
I bring these diverse experiences into each session, offering clients a space that’s compassionate, structured, and attuned to their unique story.
